The “proud to announce” has made me wince every time I read it in a release that a client sends for me to edit. Of course, you’re “proud of your achievements or news,” but the reader could care less. For years I’ve instructed clients to not begin a news release with “We are proud/pleased to announce…” I told them it would be more newsworthy if they were NOT proud or pleased to announce something.
